Whether you're looking for family, maternity, or glamour photography - these are 5 of my favorites spots to photograph in the Harrisburg area.

I have an extensive list of beautiful photo locations throughout Central PA, including some little-known hidden gems, but these are my top 5 go-to spots for breath-taking photography within 20 minutes of Harrisburg, PA.

1. Fort Hunter in Harrisburg

Best Season - Fall

Fort Hunter is a park that can be found along the Susquehanna River in Harrisburg. It has it all - from a covered bridge to a nature path to historical buildings.

Any season works well, but Autumn is by far my favorite. Nothing beats golden hour, (the hour before sunset with golden light), with all of the gorgeous reds, oranges, and yellows of Fall.

2. Seibert Park in Camp Hill

Best Season – Summer

Seibert Park is another powerhouse of a place for photography. There’s a nature trail starting near the pool where not many people are walking around.

Within the trail are a few little bridges, some wildflowers, gorgeous greenery, a log and benches for sitting poses, and even more goodies on the other side.

Once you get to the far side of the park – you can find willow trees, a place to splash around the creek for water portraits, and a field. This is why the warmer months of summer is perfect for portraits here. The water is warm and plenty of shaded areas are around to cool down in.

3. Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Park in Mechanicsburg

Best Season: Winter

There’s a lot you can do here, because it’s quite a large park.

But I’d like to focus on the large patch of evergreen trees near the railroad tracks. These are perfect for winter when you want a pop of color surrounding all that white snow.

Plus, if you’re lucky, you can capture a train speeding by. There’s logs and benches to sit on, or you can bring a comfy blanket and throw it in the middle of the woods there. This is my go to place for winter portraits.

4. Hershey Gardens

Best Season – Spring

If you’ve never been to Hershey Garden during peak flower season, you are missing out.

They have a fountain and white pavilion. Archways and decorated benches are littered throughout the park. Plus, of course, rows and rows upon rows of the most amazing and colorful flowers including over 100 varieties of roses!

Aesthetically, you can’t beat it. It’s $15 for adults and well worth it. Bonus – there’s a butterfly atrium!

5. Lemoyne Memorial Park

Best Season – All

This little beauty has a nice mix of nature and urban.

Head to the wooded trail to find generous greenery near railroad tracks and the river. For an urban vibe, you’ll come across a tunnel within the trail that adds a unique juxtaposition of stone walls and graffiti within vines and flowers.

It’s really quite a fun sight, and good for any time of year.
