My Experience Photographing Jaime

September 22^nd was a lot of things for Jaime as she walked through the studio doors. It was her 40^th birthday – a beautiful day for a boudoir session.

It was also the anniversary of her daughter’s autopsy date when years ago she lost her baby Alivia.

Every year on this day, the day she should be celebrating herself, she instead is overwhelmed by mourning for her baby. What if’s and what should be’s run through her mind.

So she was so very happy that she had something to look forward to this year to help distract her a bit from the pain.

And so the morning began with hair and makeup. As is with most women before their session, Jaime was a bit nervous but very excited.

She had vibrant green hair and wanted space buns with sparkly eye makeup, and she totally rocked it.

We kicked off with a dark and moody, yet simple, black set to go with her amazing bat lingerie.

I helped guide her into doing back arch poses, and she was a natural at working various expressions from neutral to joyful to peaceful.

And then, the corsets. WOW she had some gorgeous corsets! One was colorful with black, purple, pink and blue. We did more on the dark setup with that and added some electric blue tulle to make everything pop even more.

The other corset had a western leathery look, which we did on the vintage Victorian couch. That definitely had a bit of a Xena, Warrior Princess vibe.

Next she did some stretched out poses on a white sheet with bright red lingerie.

And after that, of course, we had to do some birthday photos for turning the big 40! It was fun throwing up gold confetti, and capturing it frozen in the air. She wore a party dress from the client closet that called to her from the clothing rack.

The last set was a special something for her husband. These were definitely the zestiest of the photos with beautiful glowing backlighting and a bit of a silhouette, plus an outfit that she plans on wearing after she and her husband renew their vows.

Then, for Alivia. Using the angel wings we have at the studio, we created an image of her sweetly looking down while holding her arms out.

Jaime later sent me photos she had of Alivia, and I was able to edit Alivia into her arms. Jaime said she was stunned and never thought she’d see herself holding her baby again.

Boudoir photoshoots are beautiful, healing, and truly showcase our strength. And women like Jaime remind me of that. I can’t wait to work with her again and see what we come up with next time!

Jaime - You did such amazing work I can't wait to come back and see what else we can get into this day is one day I'll never forget and it's all thanks to you, you also designed me one of the most precious items in my life and that's me holding my sweet girl once again it's like a miracle a shred of her just being there gives me more joy then anyone could ever imagine You made me feel so comfortable and confident in myself when I worked with you I can't wait for more to come
